Rushton Triangular Lodge

Visited the frankly bizarre Rushton Triangular Lodge today, a Tudor folly covered in numbers, shapes and symbolism that no one besides its creator Sir Thomas Tresham fully understands.

Likely it’s a quiet protest against Protestantism (he designed it while in prison for refusing to give up Catholicism) though his interest in the esoteric suggests it could have gone deeper and wider than that.

Inside it’s actually rather serene and meditative, a surprisingly relaxed space.

Story has it Tresham let his local rabbit keeper live there. That guy is the real winner in all of this.
I heartily recommend a visit.
