Had my mind blown when I passed through Leicester uni campus and saw this cut out of the first class at Leicester uni in 1922. I knew two of them! Miss Bennett (back, far left) and Miss Smalley (back, far right). I visited them in an old people’s home a couple of times when I was a little kid, maybe 6 or 7 years old. My mum had worked in the uni library back in the sixties and Bennet had been her boss (The uni ended up naming a building after her) and she visited a couple of times, me in tow. I remember Mrs Smalley giving me half a Kit Kat bar and Mrs Bennett sleeping, but that’s about it. But it’s weird to think history isn’t as long ago as all that.
