I think the 2018 Suspiria remake has entered my top five genre movies list, though it’s taken three years to percolate up. I go through periods where I can’t stop thinking about it.

Like the original it’s a sort of dark fairy tale about a dance school run by witches (The dance numbers are mesmerising) but this version’s got all this extra baggage of Holocaust survivor guilt and Baader-Meinhoff terrorism which I didn’t quite see the point of initially, affecting though it was. But I think I get it now, now I stand back. It’s a masterpiece. Plus we’re at peak Tilda Swinton: she plays three parts!
