Whatever else I think about the HOTD premiere, Abigail Thorne’s Captain Lohar really gripped me.
It was so energising to see a trans woman character having such a good time in their villainy. Modern telly typically depicts trans folk as tragic victims (while 90s-2000s made them a joke and 80s made them outright serial killers).
To see Shakaro Lohar act with such gleeful agency… I dunno. Feels like we’ve turned a corner culturally speaking. That’s my take anyhow.

… it’s likely the only cathartic aspect I could draw from HOTD at this time.
I haven’t dared dip into HOTD yet. For all the buffering a fantasy genre provides, GOT made REAL heinous human shittery too palatable for this snowflake ❄️

Honestly? I’d try A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Six perfectly-made half hour episodes with far less inhumanity and a hero who truly stands for chivalry in his own naive and charming way. You can thank me later!
